Camera Bag Mayhem

I wrote a little bit ago about ordering my Kelly Moore bag. Many of you have wanted to know if I like it. Well, here’s the story. After being away for yet another week, it was great to arrive home and have a package to open! I opened the box to find my bag wrapped in another bag labeled “Kelly Moore.” It felt so decadent! The truth is, when I opened the bag, my heart sank just a little. The bag seemed overwhelmingly big.

This coming from a person who is always carrying a big bag. A big diaper bag, a big tote and a big camera bag… I have no fear of big bags, but this bag seemed like a ginormous “unsafe for my gear because there are no real closures” box. I realized after I got the bag that serious closures are a big deal for me because we travel by air a lot (africa to america, america to africa is my life!). I wanted to be able to place the bag on its side and put it in the overhead compartment. If the closure is a magnet, “no can do.” Duh, should have thought of that one awhile ago.

I tried to convince myself that all of this was not true for several days. Then finally, I wrote Kelly Moore to say I would be returning the bag. I wanted to write, “but I still love you Kelly Moore.”  Then I realized it would probably not be her responding to my emotionally charged email, so I held myself back!

The next day I pick up a Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home on SALE, and I have never looked back!

I love it. It just goes to show, you need to find your own way, figure out what is going to work for you and move forward with it! Even if it means returning something! What works for one photog may not work for you, and that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. There’s only one you.
